Note to Developers: Developers can use the free eFile? API to introduce uniform UI components to their applications, and allow users to store everything in one place. For developers, eFile? creates a higher level interface than the existing BlackBerry® storage functionality, providing the ability to manage created files visually through eFile?'s UI. Using eFile?'s SDKs, developers can introduce uniform UI components for file operations to their applications. File launch associations allow developers to register file types with eFile? that, when selected, will simultaneously open the appropriate application for that file.
The free eFile? API has a tools library for developers, consisting of three main elements:
- eFile? file system access SDK: create, read and write files that will later appear in the UI program.
- eFile? file access UI components: standardized UI dialogs can be used by developers to create a predictable UI environment for the end user (opening, creating and saving files/folders).
- eFile? application registration facility/ eFile? launch associations: register file types with eFile? to create an icon that opens the associated application when the file is launched.
